St Bride's Church, Fleet Street: spiritual home of the media

Lent, Holy Week & Easter at St Bride's

The season of Lent offers a wonderful opportunity for self-discovery. It is a time when we can strive to live more simply and less self-indulgently; it also invites us to reflect on the things that matter in life - including the ways in which we are attentive to the needs of our world.

Holy Week is not merely another story to be told; rather, a reality to be inhabited. Join us here at St Bride's for our Holy Week services, to share in this remarkable series of events. Further Information

Alongside our regular Sunday services, we've some suggestions about how you might like to mark Lent this year. Read On...

St Bride's, Fleet Street is a warm and welcoming Christian community, and one of the most famous and most fascinating historic churches in Central London.

St Bride's is known worldwide as the Journalists' Church, offering a spiritual home to all who work in the media. However, our ministry extends to everyone who lives and works within our parish, and to the thousands of visitors who come to us every year. Our beautiful Wren church provides a place of peace and a spiritual haven in the heart of the city for all who come. With one of the best professional choirs in the country, we are also well known for the outstanding quality of our music and of the worship we offer.

A place of Christian worship for 1500 years, we continue to proclaim the love of God here. Whether journalist, tourist, City resident or worker, you will always be made welcome.

April 21

'God does not make his home in shrines made by human hands.' (Acts 17:24)

In many Benedictine monasteries as the monks process into chapel they bow first to the altar and then to the person alongside them in the procession. This practice is a vivid reminder that God is not only to be worshipped at the altar, but to be found in other people. Paul in the reading from Acts is reminding his Athenian audience that God's presence is not confined to any location or building. At the end of the Communion Service we are sent out to do God's work in the world, in the power of the Spirit and in union with Christ. We are reminded that God is at large in the people and situations around us. May we find him there.

Lord God, help us to remember that our faith is not confined to a church building, and that your Spirit is active in the world. May we share your love with those around us. Amen.

A Space For Silence

St Bride's church provides a space for silence every weekday evening between 5 and 6pm; a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Fleet Street and the City of London.

You are welcome to join us and come and go as you please.

Commune with your own heart ... and be still (Psalm 4:4)
