St Bride's Church, Fleet Street: spiritual home of the media
st_brides_baptism.jpg

St Bride's, Fleet Street is a warm and welcoming Christian community, and one of the most famous and most fascinating historic churches in Central London.

St Bride's is known worldwide as the Journalists' Church, offering a spiritual home to all who work in the media. However, our ministry extends to everyone who lives and works within our parish, and to the thousands of visitors who come to us every year. Our beautiful Wren church provides a place of peace and a spiritual haven in the heart of the city for all who come. With one of the best professional choirs in the country, we are also well known for the outstanding quality of our music and of the worship we offer.

A place of Christian worship for 1500 years, we continue to proclaim the love of God here. Whether journalist, tourist, City resident or worker, you will always be made welcome.
Alison Joyce, Rector of St Bride's

A Space For Silence

St Bride's church provides a space for silence every weekday evening between 5 and 6pm; a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Fleet Street and the City of London.

You are welcome to join us and come and go as you please.

'Do not imagine I have come to abolish the law.' (Matthew 5: 17)

Jesus made it very clear that he wanted to enhance and fulfil what God was already doing through his ancient people the Jews. Our Christian faith grew out of Jewish tradition. Nevertheless, we are not just slavishly to subscribe to legalistic observance. We need rules in society to help us to live together harmoniously, but we must always be ready to go beyond the law and follow God's spirit of love and forgiveness. Only if we follow the prompting of the spirit can we renew ourselves and society.

Lord God, help us to engage joyfully with the challenge of the Gospel that calls us to live trustingly with you. Give us the courage to go beyond mere legal observance and find new ways of serving you. Amen.
