On Tuesday 18th July, St Bride's held a lunchtime recital to raise funds for the British Red Cross London Fire Relief Fund to help the people of Grenfell Tower. Several wonderful musicians donated their time and talents for the event and a total of £502.26 was raised, all of which will go to the fund.

We are very grateful to Mine Doğantan and Helen Nelson, Jonatan Bougt, Constance Leung, and Nigel Blomiley for their generosity; all of whom have previously taken part in our free lunchtime recital series.

'If only you understood the message of peace!' (Luke 19:42)

Jesus' lament over the conflicts and tensions of the Jerusalem of his day finds an echo in the situation in the Middle East today. Jesus called on people to love God and neighbour, but many rejected his non-violent approach. Today the way of peace is more needed than ever. Only our loyalty to God, as Thomas Merton said, will enable us to build a world that thrives on unity.

Lord, may we bring the healing of the Gospel to those who are hurting in the society today, and bring the peace of the Gospel to a divided wold. Amen.
