St Bride's Church, Fleet Street: spiritual home of the media

A new anthem has been commissioned for St Bride's Choir, in recognition of their environmental Lent campaigns.

Composer Ian Stephens has set Malcolm Guite's poem "Everything Holds Together" in a number of free to download arrangements for choirs of all ranges and sizes.

The anthem is a song of praise for God's Creation and a timely reminder of our duty of stewardship towards our fragile & precious environment.

St Bride's, Fleet Street is a warm and welcoming Christian community, and one of the most famous and most fascinating historic churches in Central London.

St Bride's is known worldwide as the Journalists' Church, offering a spiritual home to all who work in the media. However, our ministry extends to everyone who lives and works within our parish, and to the thousands of visitors who come to us every year. Our beautiful Wren church provides a place of peace and a spiritual haven in the heart of the city for all who come. With one of the best professional choirs in the country, we are also well known for the outstanding quality of our music and of the worship we offer.

A place of Christian worship for 1500 years, we continue to proclaim the love of God here. Whether journalist, tourist, City resident or worker, you will always be made welcome.
Alison Joyce, Rector of St Bride's

'It is what comes out of the mouth that makes us unclean.' (Matthew 15:11)

Jesus' contemporaries thought that religion was all about rules, in this case rules of cleansing and diet. True religion, Jesus says, is internalised into good thoughts and behaviours and isn't dependent on external practices. Just because we do all the right things, doesn't mean we are right with God. God knows us and judges our hearts.

Lord God, help us not to fool ourselves about our motives and desires. Help us to do your will with pure hearts and minds. Amen.
