Maria Milanova began her musical career in her native country of Bulgaria at the National School of Music under the tutelage of Alexander Vassilenko. She continued her education at the National Academy of Music completing, with the highest honours, two parallel courses - one in Piano Performance and another in Musical Pedagogy.

In competition, Maria won second prize at the Academic Competition for Chamber Music (Sofia, 2008), third prize for solo performance from the National Competition for Instrumentalists and Singers 'Sv. Obretenov' (Provadia, 2000) and a special prize for a piano duo from the Young Musical Talents Festival (Sofia, 2000). Around the same time she performed Beethoven's Second Piano Concerto with the National Academy Orchestra in Bulgaria under the baton of Deyan Pavlov.

Since moving to the UK in 2009 Maria has enjoyed collaborating on dance and theatre productions at the Bloomsbury Theatre, the Markova Theatre, Tring, the Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury and Upton House. In 2015 she accompanied Fumi Otsuki in a series of lunchtime concerts at All Saints Parish Church in Marlow and Wesley's Chapel in Old Street. She has also performed with many other chamber ensembles and choirs in Bulgaria and the UK.

As a repetiteur Maria has worked with London Children's Ballet on their production of The Little Lord Fauntleroy (choreographed by Jenna Lee, 2016), Noriko Kobayashi's production of 'Gloria' (staged by Antony Dowson, 2015) and the children's rehearsals for English National Ballet's production of Nutcracker (2011) and Le Corsaire (2013). In 2016 and 2017 Maria accompanied Cecchetti Society's Junior and Middle Mabel Ryan Awards at the Lilian Baylis Studio in Sadler's Wells. Playing for dance masterclasses is among Maria's favourites and she has had the pleasure of working with Edward Watson (Royal Ballet), Brandon Lawrence (Birmingham Royal Ballet), Marguerite Porter MBE, Eve Pettinger MBE, Jodie Blemings (Chrysalis), Christopher Moore (Ballet Theatre UK), Kasper Cornish, Erroll Pickford, Jose Martin, John Ollivier (principal dancer in Matthew Bourne's 'Swan Lake') and others.

Maria currently works as a pianist for dance at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, accompanying ballet, contemporary and tap classes and RAD and Cecchetti ballet exams. Away from performing Maria is busy being a mum to 4-year-old Victor and she enjoys reading, going to the theatre, listening to indie music and consuming the delicious creations of her professional chef husband.
