The Artists
Founded in 2013 by pianists Sónia Amaral and Patrícia Ventura, Kla-Vier Duo is one of the Portuguese piano duos that has been working regularly since its formation, maintaining a concert schedule that allows it to be constantly updated and that it has been developing in a growing sense, both nationally and internationally. The Kla-Vier Duo bases its program on a repertoire essentially from the 20th and 21st century, covering a wide range of trends, aesthetics and composers such as Ligeti, Kurtág, A. Pärt, Berio or Hindemith, but also going to look for the reference works of the repertoire for this formation, like those of Ravel, Poulenc or Debussy.
On the other hand, aware of its very important role as a promoter of new artistic content, the duo also intends to give special emphasis to Portuguese music and encourage composers to create new works. Thus, the Kla-Vier Duo already has some works dedicated to it, having made several premieres.
The duo presented the first national hearing of ‘Work for two pianists’ by Morton Feldman in Portugal, in 2014.
Kla-Vier Duo also recorded two video clips with pieces by the composers Paulo Bastos and Sofia Sousa Rocha, which are part of the regular programming of the international music channel CMusic Tv, to be broadcast in Europe, the United States of America and Canada.
Since its formation, the duo has been performing in concert halls such as: José Sarmento Auditorium – Carandá Cultural Market {Braga}; Eduardo Brazão Cine-Teatro (Vila Nova de Gaia]; Nogueira da Silva Museum (Braga); Porto Romantic Museum (Porto); Azeredo Perdigão Auditorium (Aveiro); Synthesis – Contemporary Music Cycle of Guarda; Maison de Portugal André de Gouveia – Cité International Universitaire de Paris; Palácio Foz (Lisbon); Casa das Artes (Porto); Machado de Castro National Museum (Coimbra), Porto PianoFest, Música D’Ponte Festival (Braga), ACTUM Festival (Braga).
