The Artists
Born in Hong Kong, cellist Hei Chit Wong is a Master of Music graduate of the Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Felix Schmidt. Wong completed a research project exploring pizzicato in cello playing.
Passionate for new music, he has played with the London Contemporary Soloists. He was also invited to premiere a contemporary opera based on Journey to the West at the Tête à Tête Opera Festival 2023.
Wong has performed widely in significant events as a soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared in concert halls and festivals such as Hong Kong City Hall, Ferrandou Musique (France), Petworth Festival (UK), and the Romanian Athenaeum. Wong has also worked with Alisa Weilerstein, Hannah Roberts, Colin Carr, Julian Steckel and Sung-Won Yang.
Praised for her technical mastery as well as elegance and sensitivity to her performances, British-born Chinese pianist Helen Meng is a versatile and highly cultivated musician.
China Central Television Station Music Channel aired a solo documentary featuring Helen, making her the first young musician ever to be featured on the series, bringing her recognition throughout the entire country.
Helen made her orchestral debut at the age of 12 performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 1 with the China Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, she has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras from China, Italy and the USA conducted by acclaimed conductors including Long Yu and Christian Frohlich.
Helen is currently studying Advanced Diploma under Professor Joanna MacGregor and Professor Rustem Hayroudinoff at the Royal Academy of Music. She attained a Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honours and a Master’s Degree with Distinction under Professor William Fong. She has also worked with renowned musicians such as Michel Beroff, Dang Thai Son, Stephen Kovacevich, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Stanislav Ioudenitch and Marios Papadopoulos
