The Artists

Since 2019, Mina Hobsun Mazur has been a pupil at The Purcell School, being very fortunate to study viola with Sarah-Jane Bradley and violin with Tanja Goldberg, and last year were proud to perform Weber’s Andante and Rondo Ungarese at the Janáček Concert Hall at Brno Conservatoire, Czech Republic and in a concert for young musicians in High Wycombe, with eminent pianist John Lenehan. Later that year Mina took part in the Purcell School soloists’ concert at Benslow Music Trust. As a member of the Odyssey Festival Orchestra, they were the viola section co-leader in the OFO’s January 2023 concert at a sold-out Queen Elizabeth Hall, and were very excited to lead the section at its last two concerts at Cadogan Hall in May and September. Mina was runner-up at the Louis Watt Competition in 2022 (violin) and 2023 (viola). They have previously won recital prizes at Kingston, Blackheath and Beckenham Festivals.

Thomas McDonnell began playing clarinet aged 12, earning a Grade 8 distinction at 14. In 2023, he joined the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain’s NYO associate program, writing and performing compositions for the orchestra’s concerts, and in 2024 he joined the orchestra’s clarinet section. Thomas has performed chamber and orchestral music in many major UK concert halls, including London’s Barbican and Royal Festival Halls, Saffron Hall, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, under the direction of conductors such as Sir Mark Elder and Carlos Miguel Prieto. As a soloist, Thomas has appeared at All Saints, Hertford and Welwyn’s United Reformed Church as guest soloist with Welwyn Male Voice Choir. Thomas’ compositions have been performed at the Hatfield House Chamber Music Festival in the Marble Hall, and in All Saints Church.
