The Artists
The KRIUS Quartet was founded at the Royal Academy of Music in 2023.
Alfie Weinberg is from Birmingham and began his violin studies aged three, studying the Suzuki Method, and is the first musician in his family. Alfie joined the Young Strings Project at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire before going on to study at Chethams’ School of Music, and now studies with Joshua Fisher at the Royal Academy of Music. He has been a member of the National Children’s Orchestra and the CBSO Youth Orchestra, and also enjoys playing jazz violin and piano, and composing.
Originally from London, Louis Solon moved to Devon and won a music scholarship to Exeter School. Louis moved to the Purcell School for Sixth Form where he studied the violin with Joo-Yeon Sir and chamber music with William Fong and Richard Jenkinson. He was a section principal in the Symphony Orchestra and is now a student with Joshua Fisher at the Royal Academy of Music.
Theo Hayward is a Belfast-born violist passionate about music of all forms. He has played in a number of orchestras such as the City of Belfast and Ulster Youth Orchestras, holding the position of principal violist in the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and Great Britain. Personal successes include placing 3rd in the Northern Ireland Young Musician of the Year, winning the prestigious Stephen Parker Award. He currently plays with the KRIUS and Citadel Quartets within the Academy.
Frederick Carter has been surrounded by music in his family and around him all his life and picked up the cello studying the Suzuki Method, playing in both large and small ensembles. Since then, Frederick has played in the National Children’s Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra and now studies with Christoph Richter. He enjoys a wide variety of music from baroque to Scottish reels.
